MARKET UPDATE 09.25.26

Good afternoon,

New crop APPLES are finally on the way! GALA and HONEYCRISP are fresh fall crop with new crop GRANNY, GOLDS, REDS, and PINKS all to come on by the end of October. Markets will remain tight with slightly elevated pricing until orchards are fully harvested and fruit is put into controlled atmosphere rooms for storage.

PEARS are also back! ANJOU and BOSC out of Washington have a few weeks under their belt and are gaining momentum. Volume will continue to increase in the coming weeks, following a similar trend as apples, with pricing relief expected once storage rooms are full and there is a better assessment on this year's crop.

No relief in ASPARAGUS markets just yet. The El Nino weather pattern has provided plenty of heat and rain down in Peru and Mexico, limiting production. Although lower yields are expected to continue over the next few weeks, some growing areas are beginning to increase in supply.

LETTUCE and LEAFY GREENS are entering their last month out of Salinas California. Huron, CA lettuce and leaf will start in mid-October and finish by mid-November. This short season provides brief relief for the aging Salians Valley crop but can be volatile depending on the weather. YUMA Arizona is the home for our fall/winter crop and will start in early November on LETTUCE, LEAF, BROCCOLI, CAULIFLOWER, and more! As we move through this transition in October, market pricing will fluctuate with the starts and stops of the season.
