MARKET UPDATE 08.07.25

Good afternoon,

ASPARAGUS continues to tighten up both on Peruvian and Mexican supply. Sizing is running small with lighter availability and higher market pricing on JUMBO ASPARAGUS. We should expect another few weeks of scarcity as Mexico transitions growing regions.

GRAPE season is hitting its stride in California! More and more shippers are coming on weekly and we are seeing fantastic SIZE, COLOR, and FLAVOR!

STRAWBERRIES continue to slow out of Salinas as we await new crop down in Oxnard and Santa Maria. Pricing is holding firm thanks to lower demand in the summertime. BLACKBERRIES and RASPBERRIES are tight as import supplies have been slow this season. BLUEBERRIES are typically strong out of the Pacific NW but we have seen some softer fruit than normal out of this region.

LETTUCE is on a wild ride! Markets were down and then shot back up late last week and are now holding firm. Inconsistent weather but plenty of heat has led to inconsistent supplies. Discoloration and bruising is present in most packouts at a small percentage. We should see an improvement in the coming weeks but with kids going back to school, that push in demand may keep markets tight a little while longer.

BROCCOLI supplies are in great shape! There is heat in the growing region leading to some lighter green beads but as long as the product is handled correctly, quality is excellent.

Eastern VEG is picking up steam with CORN, CUKES, PEPPER and more ready for harvest! Pricing, quality, and availability should remain steady as we move towards peak season.

More as it happens,
