MARKET UPDATE 07.03.25
Good afternoon,
LETTUCE supplies remain extremely limited out of California. As estimates continue to fall below projections, demand fails to falter even at these elevated prices. Growers anticipate this trend to continue into next week.
This season LEMONS will consist of approximately 25% less production vs last year, as many early-season supplies were sent to Europe to take advantage of favorable market trends. Sizing will yield predominately large/medium-sized fruit initially, including 95’s, 115’s, and 140’s. Small fruit will remain scarce for the majority of the season.
We are just beginning to see GRAPES out of the San Joaquin Valley. The grapes out of this region make up the majority of the California crop and should produce the best size and flavor. After the turbulent start to the Mexican season, we will see a little more strain on the market than usual, even with a healthy CA crop. But as production increases over the next two weeks, we will know a lot more about what this SUMMER GRAPE crop will look like!
Michigan APPLES are mostly done for the season. The end has come slightly earlier than normal but nothing too unusual. Look for GALA 198s and small RED prices to move up slightly as supplies shift over to Washington.
CHERRY supplies remain strong on both RED and RAINIER varieties. The fruit is flavorful, firm, and some of the best pricing you will see on CHERRIES!
More as it happens,
