MARKET UPDATE MAR 29th - APRIL 4th 2021

Good Afternoon,

Growers are starting to harvest lettuce in California, a sign that production will be back up North before we know it! Several states here in the U.S are now open for business, bringing people out of their homes with some additional demand. Over the next few weeks, look for some activity in west coast veg markets like, CAULIFLOWER, BROCCOLI, LETTUCE, ROMAINE, AND LEAF.

AVOCADO pricing remains higher this week. Supplies out of Mexico are still struggling from the freeze last month. We are still a few weeks away from any significant supplies out of California that should help bring some relief to AVOCADO pricing and availability.

PINEAPPLES saw heavy movement this week in South Florida. Several shippers raised prices throughout the week as they experienced a demand exceeds supply situation. Supplies should remain steady in the coming weeks.

GREEN BELL PEPPERS are still in good supply here in Florida but a lack of supply in Mexico is shaking things up a bit. RED, YELLOW, and ORANGE BELL PEPPER supplies look to be improving out of Mexico.

Cooler weather bought us some more time with Florida STRAWBERRIES. Out in California, supplies were starting to pick up until a severe hailstorm has put growers back behind schedule. BLACK, BLUE, and RASPBERRY supplies are weak, but a lower demand has helped maintain availability.

MANGOES are now coming in from Guatemala. The price has moved up slightly, but the color of the TOMMY ATKINS variety will be an improvement over the supplies out of PERU.

GINGER supplies have improved recently and look to continue that trend next week. We are seeing an influx of supply out of Brazil that is lowering prices!

Please remember, next week is a short week in observance of Good Friday. Please get your orders in early to help us get you fully covered with the freshest product!

More as it happens,
