MARKET UPDATE 06.13.25

Good afternoon,

GRAPES remain the main point of discussion this week as we are still managing through light supplies due to Tropical Storm Alvin. RED SEEDLESS GRAPES, particularly the early FLAME variety, was the most significantly affected, with nearly a 50% loss in production. GREEN and BLACK GRAPES were already tight through the transition, and the storm set the market back even further. As long as we don't see any major weather events, we should see the situation improve on all GRAPES steadily over the next few weeks.

ROMAINE and ROMAINE HEARTS are seeing increased demand this week, pushing pricing higher. LETTUCE and other LEAFY GREENS still only face moderate demand, leaving pricing steady. The warmer weather around the Salinas Valley will help production but may bring on added pressure of lighter quality issues.

Many Mexican products are experiencing adverse market conditions due to the Tropical Storm and extreme heat in growing areas. Top quality RED, YELLOW, and ORANGE BELL PEPPER has been limited thanks to the early summer heat. GREEN BELLS on the east coast are in a similar situation but with more volume available. Pricing is low thanks to the volume but overall the summer heat levels are making things difficult for growers.

CELERY supplies continue to be a bright spot on the market with ample availability and favorable pricing! California supplies picked up right where Florida left off making CELERY a promotable option for the month of June.

Tis the season for "nearly" Summer fruit! CHERRIES are now available out of Washington, so once we make it through the startup phase this week, we should be off and running! 9-10.5 row fruit is what all the retailers want, so although volume this season is expected to be strong, pricing will hang on to higher levels until we make it past 4th of July promotions. We anticipate prices to come off gradually each week, but no major changes until July. PEACHES, PLUMS, NECTARINES, APRICOTS, SPECIALTY MELONS, and more are all ripe and ready out of California, so set up those fruit displays with some variety and catch some eyes this season!

More as it happens,
