MARKET UPDATE 06.12.26
Good afternoon,
Washington CHERRIES are in great supply! Despite heavy rain and some wind earlier this week, there is steady availability of good quality fruit. Market pricing is already near the low point for the season. Barring any weather events, good quality, pricing, and availability should remain through July 4th.
ROMAINE, ROMAINE HEARTS, and LETTUCE remain extremely limited. Complications at the field level look to continue for another few weeks, maintaining limited supplies and elevated market pricing.
ASPARAGUS supplies are strong out of both Mexico and Peru. Domestic production is also in season, keeping markets in check for at least another few weeks.
Mixed BERRIES are suffering through the summer heat. Production is light in all areas, and quality has left something to be desired. BLUEBERRIES should improve once supplies out of the Pacific NW get going in a few weeks while BLACK and RASPBERRIES out of Guatemala should be on a similar timeline.
Speaking of Guatemala, FRENCH BEANS and SNOW PEAS are limited this week due to volatile growing conditions.
Desert MELON shippers are experiencing major crop failure due to white fly and virus pressure. CANTALOUPE and HONEYDEW yields are down over 30% as growers expect an early finish to the desert season. Mexican supplies may help the shortage but we will feel the heat until additional California fruit is available in a few weeks.
More as it happens,
